The Big Debate

Some parents don't want their kids to take their cell phones to school. One reason is MONEY. Parents may feel that their child may be too careless with their cell phones; it may get lost or stolen or even yet, taken up at school.
The students may want to show off their cell phones (the latest model or newest technology), text in class or to cheat on test.  They may even want to text while walking home or on the bus.
Kids don't really think about the dangers and negative factors that cell phones may entail.   The decision a parent makes will probably be based on the responsibility and maturity of their child.
Having cell phones at school could also depend on whether they are even allowed on individual campuses or school districts. A school may not allow cell phones probably because the
superintendent of that district may believe they will become a distraction to the learning environment; ringing or vibrating during class.
On the other hand schools may allow cell phones because they feel that the use technology in the 21st century is vital.  Not necessarily to give children more freedom, but to allow them to play a key role in their own education by having more options.
Our school does allow cell phones.
We think it is because our principal wants us to own our future and believe that we will be responsible enough when using them.  And we are!  Besides after having to wear uniforms we need some type of way to  express ourselves and have access to free choices.  Also if we REALLY need to call our parents or guardians in cases of emergencies we will be able to.

                   Stolen The Absolute Worst
When a  cell phone is stolen that makes parents VERY UPSET. When the child gets home you can guarantee
they'll hear the following. Parent/Guardian: " So, how was school ?" Child: "Good, except the fact I got my cell phone stolen."Parent /Guardian: "STOLEN!!!???, YOU ARE GROUNDED UNTIL..."
That's when the parent can decide how long their child shall be punished for their irresponsibility.
The Parents' side: The parents don't want their child to take the phone to school because they feel they are not fully responsible. "It's really your fault so, don't get mad at anyone but yourself", is usually the parents' resonse to, " But, mom, dad this is so not fair other kids get to take their cell phones to school.", coming from the upset child.
The Childrens' side:  The children really want to take their cell phones to school because they want to show it off to all their friends. They think it's really cool to take your phone school. Well we've got 2 questions for those students: Is it cool to get your cell phone taken up in front of your friends? Or to be the only distraction that causes you and  your class- mates to fail a test or quiz?
Rules about cell phones in school:
Here are some rules a student should follow to avoid having their cell phone taken away.
